Located 145 km south of the cosmopolitan city of Cancun. Tulum is divided into three different areas the Hotel Zone the Town and the Archaeological Zone. In the first area there are some of the most entrancing beaches on the Caribbean coast many of which are still considered virgin. The area is distinguished by its simple architecture which demonstrates a profound respect for the environment its rustic cabins and small hotels were built in total harmony with the natural beauty of the surroundings. The Town of Tulum is located alongside the state highway where businesses and social life take place. You will find stores supermarkets restaurants bars typical Mexican handcrafts phone booths shops post office craft markets bakeries and tourist information among others. All round this main avenue you can hear the language of the native people with their customs and typical costumes. The town of Tulum and the Hotel Zone are 3 km apart. To get around you can rent a bike take a taxi or choose public transportation vans or buses. Bikes are a very popular and inexpensive way to get around the Hotel Zone. The Archaeological Zone of Tulum is located on top of a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Words cannot describe the beauty and magic of this place.
