Meticulously restored, Anticavilla nestles in a beautiful tropical garden, with an inviting pool, an Italian restaurant and a spa. A combination of the old and the new, pretty balustraded balconies with wrought-iron railings overlook the gardens, Inside, colonial architectural elements are retained in rooms that are otherwise, very contemporary. Each room is named after a 20th-century Italian artist and has a large floor-to-ceiling, contemporary painting on one wall. Stroll through the gardens and sit on a sun-bed by the pool surrounded by palms. Then, go into Cuernavaca, where tropical flowers abound, and discover the Cortez Palace and the city s historic sites. Be sure to visit the archaeological site at Xochicalco, just outside the city, before returning to the hotel for dinner.
