Location Description

Åre is a small but thriving town situated in the middle of Sweden, at the foot of the best skiing hill in North Europe. Åre is the leading Scandinavian alpine ski resort and most of the business life is focused on tourism and tourism-related services. Tourists started coming here in the 1800s and the number of visitors was far higher during the summers until in the 1970s when the cable car opened and alpine skiing in Sweden boomed. Since a few years back, Åre is again aiming to become an all-year destination.
