The Green Dragon hotel is situated in the heart of the city, only a few yards from the Cathedral. Our central location makes us an ideal base whether your visit is for business or pleasure, as we are close to the commercial centre, local attractions, museums, art galleries, restaurants, pubs and nightlife. The Hotel Dates back to the 16th Century. Records also show that when the Cathedral was being rebuilt, the architects stayed here. The Hotel has always maintained strong local links and is very well known. The impressive Georgian frontage is a prominent landmark in the City and internally there are many original features. The hotel has 83 en-suite bedrooms and includes 3 four-poster beds. Hereford has a modern theatre within half a mile of the hotel and an excellent Leisure Centre, Race Course and Golf Course.

    The Green Dragon Hotel is located in the heart of Hereford, just along the street from the Cathedral and Mappa Mundi Exhibition. There is a wide variety of shops, restaurants, pubs and nightlife available within easy walking distance of the hotel. There are also leisure facilities and relaxing riverside walks available. Hereford is the ideal base for exploring the beautiful Herefordshire countryside along the Wye Valley and the pretty "Black and White" timber-framed Tudor villages.The City is also ideally placed for visitors to nearby Wales and the Brecon Beacons, and within an hours travelling time from Birmingham, Bristol & Cardiff. The area is also famous for the Hereford Bull, traditional Cider-making and arts and crafts.

    Geography
    The British landscape can be divided roughly into two kinds of terrain – highland and lowland. The highland area comprises the mountainous regions of Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern England and North Wales. The English Lake District in the northwest contains lakes and fells. The lowland area is broken up by sandstone and limestone hills, long valleys and basins such as the Wash on the east coast. In the southeast, the North and South Downs culminate in the White Cliffs of Dover. The coastline includes fjord-like inlets in the northwest of Scotland, spectacular cliffs and wild sandy beaches on the east coast and, further south, beaches of rock, shale and sand sometimes backed by dunes, and large areas of fenland in East Anglia.
