    * Arriving at Zurich Airport, take a taxi 15 min drive or the train to Zurich HB, change for tram 11 or 14 towards Oerlikon and alight at Stampfenbachplatz. The Sofitel is on your right. Arriving by car, from Bern and Basel head towards Winterthur and St. Gallen, then Zurich City. After the tunnel turn left, at the 2nd traffic lights turn right, the Sofitel is on your left. From Chur head towards Zurich City, then Winterthur and St.Gallen. After the bridge, the Sofitel is 100 m along on your right. * Follow the traffic signs in direction of Zurich City - Hauptbahnhof. Arriving at the railway station Hauptbahnhof , follow the direction of Winterthur- St.Gallen. Crossing the river continue straight, following the sign Sofitel. One minute later the hotel is on your right hand side. * Follow the traffic signs in direction of Winterthur-St.Gallen - Nordring, after the second tunnel follow Zurich City - Hauptbahnhof. Leaving the tunnel stay on left lane. At the second traffic light turn right into the Stampfenbachstrasse, the Sofitelis just to your left. * Take any tram to the Hauptbahnhof main railway station and change for 11 direction Hallenstadion , or 14 direction Seebach . Next stop Stampfenbachplatz just next to the hotel. * Indicate Hotel Sofitel. The knowledge of Sofites location is mandatory for the taxidriver licence. * From the historical city center and down town walk to Central, from there follow the Stampfenbachstrasse to Sofitel on the right hand side. * From any direction tram N 11 in direction of Hallenstadtion, get off at tram stop Stampfenbachplatz. Just in front of the Sofitel. * From all directions tram N 14 in direction Seebach, get off at tram stop Stampfenbachplatz, just next to the Sofitel. * From all directions bus N 46, bus stop Stampfenbachplatz, just next to the hotel. * Follow the signs Zurich City - Hauptbahnhof. Leaving the tunnel, stay on the left lane. At the second traffic light turn right, the Sofitel is just 20 yards to your left. * Follow the signs in direction of Zurich City. After the tunnel take the left lane, at the second traffic light turn right into Stampfenbachstrasse, the Sofitel is just to your left. * Follow the direction Central or Hauptbahnhof, from there direction Winterthur-St.Gallen and the sign Sofitel. * City-Hotel-Shuttle bus in front of terminal 2. Train from Airport Railway station 3rd underground level to Zurich City HB every 10 minutes, 7 minutes drive . Taxi to the hotel 15 minutes drive * All trains to Zurich HB Main railway station . From there take a taxi 5 minutes - approx 15,- CHF, or walk east, crossing the river follow the tram line 7 minutes walk .

Switzerland finally joined the United Nations in 2002, and signed the Schengen treaty in 2005, showing their support for the European Union.

    Geography
    Landlocked Switzerland shares borders with France to the west, Germany to the north, Austria and Liechtenstein to the east and Italy to the south. It has the highest mountains in Europe, together with waterfalls, rivers and lakes set amid green pastures. The highest peaks are Dufourspitze, 4,634m (15,203ft), on the Italian border; the Dom, 4,545m (14,911ft); the Matterhorn, 4,478m (14,691ft); and the Weisshorn, 4,506m (14,793ft).
