Long the bridge between East and West, this sizzling Turkish metropolis of spice markets, bazaars, mosques, mosaics, gypsies, and steaming kebabs sets new standards in chaos. The Old City, or Sultanahmet, is home to tourist favorites like the Topkapi Palace and Blue Mosque—and to throngs of pushy street vendors, too. But that rug will be worth it in the end. Just keep bargaining. |
