A week of daywalks and sightseeing on the magnificent Sorrentino Peninsula; Amalfi, Positano and the 'Walk of the Gods'

The Amalfi Coast is one of the most dramatic and beautiful coastlines in Europe. Mountains rise steeply out of the Mediterranean far below, and picturesque towns nestle neatly in isolated coves. Following mule tracks and old paths through hillside villages, lemon groves and beautiful deep gorges, we descend from our rural base on the Agerola plain to the towns with their narrow streets, whitewashed buildings and fascinating churches, monasteries and cathedrals. Away from the trails there is plenty of time to partake in the traditional Amalfi pastimes of sampling incredible food and wine, as well as enjoying the Mediterranean climate. Saving the best till last, we complete our week with one of the world's great walks, the 'Walk of the Gods'.

Itinerary:
Day 1Arrive Naples. Fly then transfer to our base in the sleepy village of Bomerano.
Day 2 Monte San Angelo walk. A gentle introductory walk to the mountain top at Monte San Angelo for great views over the Agerola Plain, the Bay of Naples and along the Sorrentino Peninsula to Capri.
Day 3 Bomerano to Amalfi. Leave the Agerola Plain and follow mule tracks, old paths and steps to descend to Amalfi with free time to explore the town and its famous cathedral.
Day 4 Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. Drive to the Bay of Naples, visit the fascinating ruins of Pompeii and take a walk up Mount Vesuvius.
Day 5 Valle del Ferriero National Park walk. Guided walk through meadows and chestnut groves to Valle del Ferriero N.P.; try some delicious locally-made smoked Mozzarella cheese.
Day 6 Free day. Today is free to relax, or choose from a variety of optional activities including a boat ride to the spectacular island of Capri, visits to Naples, Ravello and Herculaneum or a choice of unguided walks.
Day 7 'Walk of the Gods'. Enjoy incredible panoramic views following a mixture of paths, ancient tracks and steps to the near vertical Positano, one of the world's great trails; return by boat to Amalfi with enchanting views of this beautiful coastline.
Day 8 Transfer to Naples. Trips ends.
