Located in the breathtaking Northern Rocky Mountains, surrounded by towering peaks, glacial valleys, and pristine lakes, rests the charming town of Whitefish, Montana.
Nestled at the edge of Whitefish, the lake is all that remains of an ice age glacier that flowed across the area. Today the lake is great for water sports and there are three primary public access points.
City Beach: A sandy beach, a large roped swimming area, a boat launch, and a grassy area with picnic tables and gazebos, are all hallmarks of Whitefish City Beach. An ideal swimming area, the water is shallow for a long distance before dropping off near the swimming platform.
Les Mason State Park: On the northeast edge, this is a quieter, wilder side of Whitefish Lake. A small trail, as well as a universally accessible paved trail, wanders through the woods to reveal a pleasant, gravel beach. During mid-summer, a roped off swimming area and float are provided, as well as picnic tables. Park fees apply.
Whitefish Lake State Park: This small park provides a picnic area,, camping sites, swimming area and a boat launch. This is a favorite launching site to explore the undeveloped western shore. Park fees apply.
