This eight- or 10-day festival, begun in 1974, celebrates the cultural output of the African continent. Today there is virtually no art form which is not represented - “craftart”, student theater, jazz, street theater and children’s arts have been added to more established categories like opera and drama. Craft and book fairs, workshops and demonstrations also form part of the line-up. The small university city of Grahamstown is the venue for this creative extravaganza.
