Bangkok Marathon

Ran along a course through the center of this bustling city, the annual Bangkok Marathon takes participants on a route that includes many of the city’s famous landmarks. Passing the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the National Museum and the Chao Phraya River, there are many scenic spots from which to watch the action. But one of the best places to watch the marathon is on Sanam Chai Road next to the famous Grand Palace which is where the race starts and finishes. In addition to the full 42km (26 miles) marathon course, there are also the shorter 10.5km (6.5 miles) quarter marathon course and the 5km (3.2 miles) course for slower runners and walkers. A great atmosphere prevails and there are numerous events after the race, including the popular pasta party.
