Day 02: Lednice - Valtice Cultural Landscape
Morning transfer to Moravia to visit to the UNESCO Lednice-Valtice cultural landscape. Wedged into the southeastern corner of the republic, the extensive UNESCO-designated 'cultural landscape' surrounding the small Moravian towns of Lednice and Valtice unites the area's natural features and its architectural past in an unspoiled whole - all meant for leisurely exploration today on foot, on horseback, by bike or even by car. Two important castles of the Lichtenstein family in Lednice and Valtice anchor an array of other chateaus, garden houses and decorative sculptures in various styles. Set off by numerous ponds and forests, the cultural landscape covers 250 square kilometers of the Dyje River watershed.

Enjoy dinner and wine tasting in one of Valtice´s famous wine cellars. The Wine Salon of the Czech Republic is the highest wine competition in the country. Only wines made from grapes grown in the Czech republic can apply. Wines applying for the Wine Salon first go through a system of nominating exhibitions. Then the wines go through an assessment of the committee of wine tasters, which awards the best 100 wines the right to mark their label with the words “Salon vin Ceske Republiky”.

After dinner, transfer to Hlohovec for overnight. Hotel Hranicni Zameček is a significant architectural monument of the Lednice - Valtice area built by the Liechtenstein family in the years 1816 - 1819 at the village of Hlohovec near the Hlohovec pond and is registered with UNESCO.

Near the castle is the Augustinian monastery where Gregor Mendel first discovered the laws of genetics using pea plants. Part of the monastery houses a museum, and Mendel's experimental garden can still be toured.
