One of the city's best-loved events, the annual Royal Melbourne Show is a traditional agricultural fair which attracts thousands of visitors. As well as traditional events such as livestock displays, sheep shearing and wood chopping competitions, visitors can also take their pick from a whole host of modern entertainments ranging from the colourful carnival to fashion shows. Each day has a different theme - 'Multi-Cultural Monday' or 'Outback Thursday', for example - and there is fun, games and entertainment for visitors of all ages. Another popular aspect of the event is the Show Bags which are filled with goodies and memorabilia from the show.

Getting there:
Rail: The Showgrounds has its own railway station on the Flemington Racecourse line, only open for the show and other special events.
Trams: Extra trams are run to the Showgrounds for the duration of the show.
