12/01/2009 - 12/31/2009River of Lights Parade
Caerphilly,
United Kingdom
A month before this event, lantern-making workshops are held in various schools in the town of Caerphilly, where children can use the materials provided to create imaginative lanterns to bring to the parade. On the appointed evening, a big crowd gathers at the station car park, the kids 'light up' and the River of Lights begins to flow through the streets to the town centre, accompanied by samba music. Finally, beneath the looming walls of Caerphilly's impressive 13th-century castle, the show closes with a big, pre-Christmas firework display.
