Every year over 200,000 visitors travel to Walsall to enjoy this light show, the largest of its kind in the country, in the park's 14 hectares (34.6 acres) of floodlit gardens and illuminated lakes. The Walsall lights have been an annual event since 1951, inspired by much earlier illuminations - as long ago as 1875 the park was lit by candles in glass jars, and fairy lights were introduced in 1892. Alongside this year's special lights, illuminations and laser shows, there will be children's rides and attractions and live entertainment.
