7/02/2008 - 8/04/2008Cardiff Festival
Cardiff,
United Kingdom
The Cardiff Festival is a summer-long series of outdoor events that includes top-line street entertainment, live music, comedy and performance arts. Billed as the UK's largest free outdoor festival, it kicks off with a two-day Children's Festival, and the Cardiff International Food and Drink event. The acclaimed MAS (masquerade) Carnival follows and is a lively series of street entertainments which anyone can watch, or even join in. The main shopping street (Queen Street) is the scene of more celebrations at the end of July, when the International Street Festival arrives with acts from around the world. The celebrations close in spectacular style at the Cardiff Big Weekend - a free three-day music extravaganza on stage, plus the Lord Mayor's Parade and the UK's biggest travelling funfair, attracting around 750,000 visitors in all.
