Similar to the famous Chinese Dragon Boats, Thailand's Swan Boats are equally impressive with ornately carved patterns with a swan's head at the prow and a rising tail at the stern. Usually crewed by a team of 20 paddlers and a drummer to keep the pace, the racing boats can reach incredible speeds of up to 20kph (12 mph). The dramatic races take place on the Chao Phraya River in Bang Pa-In near Ayutthaya.
