    six months after date of return required by all nationals referred to in the chart above except:
    1. nationals of Canada and the USA with valid photo ID. 
    Note: As of 23 January 2007 all persons, including US citizens, traveling by air between the USA and Canada, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda are required to present a valid passport or other approved document when entering or re-entering the USA. Similar requirements for those traveling by land or sea will be introduced as early as 1 January 2008.     Visas
    Not required by nationals referred to in the chart above for stays of up to three months except:
    (a) 2. nationals of Portugal who do require a visa, unless continuing their journey to a third country by the same aircraft within 24 hours without leaving the airport.
    (b) 2. nationals of Ireland and Luxembourg are advised to check with the embassy for the latest visa requirements.
    (c) commercial cruise ship passengers, who do not require a visa provided they are in St Kitts and Nevis for under 24 hours.

    Types of Visa and Cost
    Ordinary: £45 in person; £50 if posted.

    Validity
    Depends on individual application. Usually up to three months.

    Applications to:
    Consulate (or consular section at embassy or high commission), or British Consulate in countries with no representation; see General Info.

    Working Days Required
    Two to three.

    Warning
    Most visits to St Kitts and Nevis are trouble-free but you should be aware of the global risk of indiscriminate international terrorist attacks, which could be against civilian targets, including places frequented by foreigners.

    Dengue Fever is endemic to Latin America and the Caribbean and can occur throughout the year.  In 2007, there has been a marked increase in the number of reported cases of dengue across the region.

    The hurricane season in St Kitts and Nevis normally runs from June to November.

    Health Care
    There are large general hospitals in Basseterre and Charlestown, and a smaller public hospital at Sandy Point, St Kitts. There are no private hospitals, but several doctors and dentists are in private practice. Payment upfront will often be required, therefore health insurance is advised.

    * A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required from travelers over one year of age arriving from an infected area.
