11/09/2007 - 11/14/2007November Fiesta
Benidorm,
Spain
One of the really big events in Benidorm's calendar, the Town Fiesta (Fiestas Patronales) celebrates the resort's patron saints - La Virgen del Sufrage and Jaime Apostol. Religion is somewhat sidelined though, in the overall fun and games that go on. Leading up to the fiestas there are all sorts of sporting and cultural events ranging from football to concerts to fishing contests. During the fiestas proper there are many processions. Among the most memorable is the flower parade with carriages and costumes, through the streets of the town. A statue of the Virgin is carried in procession to the plaza in front of the church of San Jaime. Street musicians, big brass bands, rock music and classical concerts are all in the programme along with midnight concerts in the Auditorium in Aiguera Park
