A long jog at the seaside with a few days worth of Spanish sun (hopefully) thrown in - the Benidorm Marathon has been a favourite with British competitors for many years. The course of the race is mainly flat and follows public roads which are closed to traffic. Long stretches of the town's beaches are also included. The marathon begins early in the morning and the half-marathon mid-morning, so all runners finish over the same time span. A five-hour time limit applies
