1/16/2010 - 1/17/2010Fiesta of Sant Antoni
Mallorca,
Spain
Taking place in various towns across the island, the Fiesta of Sant Antoni celebrates the patron saint of farm animals. It's a fun and colourful event which sees participants dress up in elaborate animal costumes and parade through the town. A fire is lit in the evening, usually in the town square, which is used to ward off evil spirits. There is usually plenty of food and drink for sale and participants sing traditional songs honouring the saint and perform dances around the fire.
