The feast of the Virgin del Carmen is the day in July on which local fishermen carry an effigy of the Virgin Mary into the water and out to sea in a decorated vessel, followed by a flotilla of boats. This is a colourful and traditional event which takes place at Santa Fe de Los Boliches, Fuengirola's northern beach district.
