Following a course from the heart of Singapore through the Central Business District, the popular annual Singapore Marathon attracts athletes from all over the world. Due to the excessive heat and humidity, this is a tough and challenging marathon but a half marathon, 10km (6.2 miles) run and a special children's 750m (2,460ft) Kids' Dash event are also on the day's schedule. Prize money is up for grabs in each category. Supporters line the route creating a friendly atmosphere as they cheer on the runners.
