6/01/2009 - 7/31/2009Bard in the Botanics
Glasgow,
United Kingdom
As has been proven in outdoor venues around the world, Shakespeare plays work very well in the open air - and Glasgow's famous Botanic Gardens provide an absolutely superb backdrop for just such an event. In these historic, fragrant grounds, 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', 'Antony and Cleopatra', 'The Tempest', 'The Taming of the Shrew', 'Much Ado About Nothing', 'Henry V' and many more of the Bard's plays have been performed to enthralled audiences and critical acclaim. Glasgow Repertory Company's annual outdoor Shakespeare festival is the only one of its kind in Scotland. Some outdoor performances involve a lengthy walk through the grounds but picnic baskets are available to sustain the hungry theatre-goer. Indoor performances are at Oran Mor, opposite the entrance to the Botanic Gardens.
