Thousands of revellers pack the city's streets for this annual event which is the highlight of the city's gay and lesbian calendar. Also called 'Arrail Pride' in Portuguese, this is the city's biggest gay and lesbian event which boasts a fun and lively atmosphere. Expect loud music, whistle-blowing, colourful floats and outlandish costumes. Starting at Marques de Pombal in the city centre, the parade makes its way noisily along Avenida da Liberdade and ends at Praca do Municpio where the partying gets underway and continues until the small hours.
