Noite Magica is Lisbon's take on the traditional New Year's Eve celebration. Lavish illuminations and a firework display over the River Tajo throw light on the huge open-air party. The main centre of the celebrations is the Torre de Belem located a couple of miles west of the city centre, facing the river Tejo. An exuberant crowd strut their stuff to live music from popular bands in the build up to midnight then after that, DJs keep the party mood buoyant well into the small hours at the Mega Disco. Many of the city's hotels and restaurants also join in the fun offering visitors special menus, parties, DJs and entertainment packages
