Every Wednesday throughout May to October, the prestigious Portuguese Equestrian Riding School performs an incredible show against the backdrop of the opulent Queluz National Palace. The shows include the magnificent pure-bred Lusitano horses - the pride of Portuguese horse lovers. The palace itself dates back to the mid-18th century and was built for D. Pedro III - King of Portugal by the famous architect, Mateus Vincente de Oliveira and is renowned for its ornate gardens with baroque fountains, tiles and statues.
