This popular Muslim festival commemorates the arrival of Shariff Kabunsuan, an Arab Malay missionary from Johore, who is credited with bringing Islam to the region. Highlights of the occasion include a fluvial parade along Rio Grande de Mindanao, cultural and traditional musical performances and religious ceremonies. One of the biggest events of its kind in Cotabato City, the festival is also recognised in other parts of the Philippines.
