Held at a lavish ceremony in Oslo City Hall, each year a person or organisation is awarded with the prestigious prize. Hosted by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, the recipient of the award is chosen for outstanding work towards the promotion of world peace. The award is part of the Swede Alfred Nobel's will in which he left the bulk of his considerable estate to set up the prize. The day after the ceremony, numerous celebrities perform at a Nobel Peace Prize Concert which is broadcast by television channels around the world.
