This is by far the most prestigious single event on the New Zealand Surfing Calendar. The National Surfing Championships attracts over 300 entrants and is a standard event format with four man heats and 50 per cent progression in all 21 divisions. The event takes place at a different venue each year and ends with a prizegiving on the final day.
