More than a dozen jazz bands play over six days in Nelson, at city centre venues and nearby. Four free concerts are held in Fairfield Park, attracting thousands of jazz fans and music lovers. Even on a damp afternoon past events have attracted up to 5,000 people. The festival continues with concerts by local musicians and others drawn from farther afield. Some of the finest venues around Nelson and Golden Bay are included in the festival. Street performances take place from noon, and there are concerts each evening.
