Budding musicians are offered an opportunity to demonstrate their virtuosity at this, New Zealand's foremost international schools' music festival. All kinds of musical ensembles can take part, be they orchestras, choirs, percussion groups, jazz bands or guitar groups. The objective is to provide a stage for any aspiring act that would benefit from concert performance, adjudication, tutoring, clinics, master classes and workshops. There are hundreds of participants, who also benefit from mixing with students from other groups, to enhance their musical repertoire and playing skills. Some of the more accomplished students are given the opportunity to rehearse and play with a professional big band.
