8/20/2008 - 9/01/2008Michigan State Fair
Detroit,
United States
One of the biggest shows in the state, the annual Michigan State Fair is a wondrous show with events and attractions for visitors of all ages. Originally an agricultural show, the fair still includes many of the old exhibitions of livestock, sheep shearers, wool weavers and award-winning fruit and vegetables. With a great interactive ethos, visitors can get close to animals and learn how to milk cows - the old-fashioned way. Other attractions include live music, theatre, children's entertainment and the ever-popular pig races. The land upon which the fair takes place was sold to the Michigan State Agricultural Society on 18 April 1905 by Joseph L Hudson, founder of a Detroit department store, for the princely sum of US$1 to give the fair a permanent home
