The Festival du Voyageur sets out to promote the Franco-Manitoban heritage and culture from the era of the early trappers by means of a winter festival, reflecting the joie de vivre of the age. The event kicks off with a huge free gathering, open to the people of Manitoba and its visitors, to celebrate the history and culture of the province through the legends, music, dance, and games of the region. Over the following days a programme of cultural events celebrates further the Voyageur theme with a gathering of French-Manitoba artists with unique style and output. Music, dance, words and poetry evolve on stage while striking images take shape across the big screen, powerfully evoking the spirit of the Voyageurs. An in-house orchestra and chorus of singers support poets, soloists and dancers to create unforgettable theatrical performances
