The multi-faceted Icelandic Festival of Canada includes everything from fairground rides to a sand castle contest. Some of the more traditional Icelandic events include the Viking Encampment on Harbour Park Hill and Islendingadunk in Gimli Harbour. Music, poetry and music concerts are also on the agenda of a fun-filled fiesta with an Arctic Circle flavour. For the active, there are several road runs to join in, while more passive demands can be satisfied at the pancake breakfasts. A fine arts show and traditional shows, a street parade, fireworks display and a folk festival complete a packed programme of events.
