Various, mainly Valletta,
Malta
The day of Our Lady of Victories is recognised on 8 September and is a public holiday. Malta celebrates victory, and the ending of its two great sieges of 1565 (Napoleon) and 1943 (Hitler) with two days of celebrations. The culmination is the traditional Victory Regatta at the Grand Harbour of Valletta on the second afternoon - a highly competitive and colourful event. There are also church services, speeches, military bands and laying of wreaths in various parts of the island. Although most of the celebrations centre on Valletta, activities are also held in Senglea, Naxxar, Mellieha and Xaghra on Gozo.
