1/06/2010 - 1/06/2010New Year Firemen's Parade (Dezome-shiki)
Tokyo,
Japan
Firemen in Edo period costume perform acrobatic stunts on top of bamboo ladders. The display includes the most recent developments in modern fire fighting techniques and equipment as well. The Tokyo fire fighting force dates from 1557, when a massive fire swept through the wooden houses of old Tokyo, killing 107,000 people. Today the fire fighters can share some of that terror with you when you sit in their fire and earthquake simulators.
