The long-standing International Organ Festival of Aosta began life back in 1966. Of interest mainly to lovers of classical music and in particular to organ music enthusiasts, it is a festival of Europe-wide importance, hosting concert artists of international stature. The original aim was to promote organ music of the highest quality in an entertaining format, and in recent years the scope has expanded to help introduce the visitor to the monumental richness of the town of Aosta, and in particular its cathedral. Music of Bach, Liszt, Guillou, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Merkel and Bossi are included in a very wide repertoire for voice and organ
