Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and occurs on the first and second days of the Jewish month of Tishri (September or October). The day is traditionally a time for reflection and a time to plan for changes to be carried out in the New Year. It is also a time to be with friends, family and loved ones and the day is customarily celebrated with a lavish evening meal with many dishes symbolising sweetness, blessings, and abundance.
