Taking place in various venues in the historic city of Jerusalem, the annual Israel Festival presents a programme of performances that covers music, theatre, art by artists from all over the world. In addition to the many international acts, the festival also features premieres of Israeli works and tributes to leading Israeli artists. As well as paid events, visitors can enjoy a selection of free performances including street theatre, children's shows and a nightly jazz club. The festival was first held in 1961 in Caesara but has since moved to Jerusalem.
