11/04/2008 - 11/04/2008Rabin Memorial Rally
Tel Aviv,
Israel
Former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated on 4 November 1995 by a Jewish law student who was opposed to the moves Rabin had made towards bringing peace in the Middle East with the Oslo Accords. Widely regarded as the leader who had come closest to bringing peace to the troubled state, his death is mourned by many and each year a Rabin Memorial Rally is staged to remember the man and the work he had done. Held in the area around Tel Aviv Square where Rabin was assassinated, the rally acts as a forum for political debate and dialogue for leftwing Israeli citizens and politicians. Each year, the rally attracts upwards of 100,000 people
