Countrywide,
Israel
Celebrated throughout Israel on the sixth day of the Jewish month of Sivan (May or June), Shavuot celebrates the giving of the Torah to the Jews at Mount Sinai. It also has agricultural significance and commemorates the time when the first fruits were harvested and brought to the Temple in Jerusalem. It is one of the biggest religious festivals in Judaism. There are three main customs that are observed during Shavuot - staying up on the first night to learn the Torah, decorating the synagogue with plants and flowers and eating dairy products.
