Recognised by Jewish communities throughout the world and particularly in Israel itself, the Holocaust Memorial Day is a sombre occasion which pays tribute to the millions of people who were put to death in Nazi concentration camps during World War II. It is marked on the 27th day in the month of Nisan - one week after the seventh day of Passover. Those who fought in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising of April 1943 are also remembered on this day.
