Each year the parish of Inniskeen in County Monaghan hold this special event commemorating the life and works of its most famous son - the celebrated Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh (1904-1967). The weekend includes readings of many of his best-loved poems as well as lively and informative talks about the man himself and his life. Amidst the poetry and stories, visitors have the opportunity to take a bus tour through the surrounding countryside to see first hand the places that inspired his work. On the final afternoon, the winner of the prestigious Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award is announced.
