8/01/2009 - 8/04/2009Greystones Arts Festival
Greystones,
Ireland
The streets of Greystones burst into life for the annual Arts Festival where visitors can expect a sensory overload from a programme including visual arts, film, theatre, comedy as well as classical and contemporary music performances. Events get underway in style with the Mardi Gras Parade that begins in Burnaby Park and makes its way down to the harbour. This is the largest street spectacle in County Wicklow where visitors can expect wild costumes, dancing groups, thumping music and the odd samba band to add a little exotic flavour. The fun and partying continue through the weekend with numerous performances offering entertainment for all the family. There are also a number of other events in the week running up to the festival weekend that take place around the town, including exhibition open days, an amateur art competition and a series of workshops covering everything from stilt walking to DJ classes.
