Introduced by the Portuguese who arrived in the port of Goa in 1510, the Goa Carnival is a traditional Mardi Gras celebration. Although essentially a Christian festival that marks the last chance for feasting and merriment before Lent, the event in Goa blends trends and beliefs from all faiths and cultures creating a wonderful feeling of community. Visitors during the three-day event can expect a warm welcome as well as parades, live music, dancers, street entertainers, cultural performances and religious services
