This colourful festival is held in honour of the Goddess Ka Blei Synshar in thanks for a good harvest. As well as many religious ceremonies and prayer services, there is also the incredible spectacle of the traditional Nongkrem dance involving young Khasi men and women in a deeply ritualistic performance. Another important aspect of the festival is the Pomblang Ceremony during which a goat is sacrificed in honour of the ruling clan.
