This Hindu festival is celebrated on the night of January's full moon. An incredible float bearing the ornamented icons of the Goddess Meenakshi and the God Sundaresa, is lit with lights and beautifully decorated with plants, flowers and coloured garlands. In the evening it is walked three times around the tank - a process that takes approximately seven or eight hours.
