12/01/2009 - 12/31/2009Lighting of the Oslo Christmas Tree
Reykjavik,
Iceland
Keeping up a tradition that dates back to the middle of the 20th century, each year the city of Reykjavik holds a ceremony to turn on the lights of a Christmas tree donated by their kinsfolk of Oslo. Popular with families with young children, the event at Austurvollur Park includes brass bands, formal speeches, choirs, carols, hymns and storytelling and is a great way to get in the festive spirit.
