Grenada
Grenada gained its independence from British rule on 7 February 1974. From this date, Grenada adopted a new parliamentary system closely modelled on the British one. On this day each year, Grenada celebrated its independence with a series of special events, historic exhibitions and ceremonies. The day is also a public holiday across the island so schools, banks and most shops are closed for the entire day
