6/01/2009 - 8/31/2009Athens Festival
Athens,
Greece
As classical venues go, it would be hard to beat the 2,000 year-old Odeon of Herod Atticus, at the foot of the Athens Acropolis. The marble theatre seating area, with room for 5,000, faces the romantic ruin of the Herodeion in an unobstructed view across the stage. The festival takes place over five months of the summer and includes a varied programme of theatre, musical performances, ballet, opera and classical Greek dance. Past performers have included the English National Ballet, the Bolshoi Opera Theatre, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, The Royal Academy of Dance, the Greek National Opera and the Netherlands Dance Theatre.
